Miles Davis: To The Cats
Hand Illustration | Photoshop | Illustrator
This 12” album is for a fictitious Miles Davis record. It was designed to resemble some of the expressive line work of Jazz covers in the 50s and 60s. The bright colors and the dark lines leave an immediate impression.
The trumpet that takes up the lion’s share of the cover happened on a whim. After struggling to find an image for the cover, I was curious about what it would look like to have a trumpet drawn from one line. After drawing it and adding valves, I realized that was exactly what was needed, chose some bright and bold colors, and finished the design.
Sometimes you just get lucky when designing something, and the answer just falls in your lap.
