2020: Looking Closer - The Print Authority Calendar

Adobe InDesign

Soon after starting at the Print Authority, I was asked to make a flip calendar for the upcoming year. These would be passed out to clients to have for the new year. For a theme, I decided to focus on designing around the theme of “Looking Closer”, as a play on 20/20 vision.

There were two main categories of subjects, things that looked interesting when zoomed in and animals with interesting disguises. Furthermore, because we were promoting our printing, the subjects would ideally be colorful and textured.

Every month, there would be two possible sides for someone to view. One side had only the current month, with space to write in each day. The other side had the current month and the surrounding months with most of its space dedicated to the imagery.

With this in mind, I had the subject be shown normally in the one-month page, as they would be largely hidden by the calendar itself and I didn’t want an additional layer of obfuscation. On the three-month page, I had the image that showed the subject in disguise or zoomed in where the viewer can appreciate it better
